Rabin was one of Israel's clear founders. He fought bravely many years before, and many years after Israel established - fought for Israel, for his country. He was the Israeli Ambassador in America in the 1980's, and later on, in the early 1990's, became Israel's president.
In November 4, 1995, Rabin had given a speech against violence in Kikar Malchei Israel (Israel's Kings Plaza). He expected 40,000 people to come. 200,000 people showed up, more than half with WE WANT PEACE and SUPPORT RABIN signs.
Rabin and other singers and leaders had sang a peace song on stage. People cheered in the Kikar, and at home, watching their television.
When Rabin went down the stairs and into his car, just as he stepped down, three shots were shot to his back. Rabin was carried by his guards to his car, and from there to the Ichilov Hospital in Tel-Aviv. Later that night, the cry came out: Rabin had died.
The lyrics of the peace song - which were in his pocket - were found in his suit, stained with blood. The peace song, who just half an hour before was sang on stage, with the rest of the Israeli nation singing and crying of joy, was stained with our own president's blood.
This man, who shot Rabin, is now in jail. Rabin was an amazing leader, with all hopes towards peace. He was an example to many people, and other leaders aswell. With three shots, he was gone. No more.
Yehi zichro Amen.
